ARK: a Story of 30 Years!

Advances in Robot Kinematics (ARK) is a series of international symposia that focus on the theory and applications of robot kinematics. They are being organized, every two years, since 1988.

Ever since the first symposium, ARK has attracted the most eminent researchers in the area and has managed to create an excellent combination of professionalism and friendly atmosphere. In spite of a strong competition of many international conferences and meetings, ARK has continued to grow in terms of the number of participants and its scientific impact. Many important contributions were presented at these symposia for the first time. Through the years, ARK has contributed to develop a remarkable scientific community in the field of robotics.

In 2018, we celebrate 30 years of outstanding Advances in Robot Kinematics!

ARK Books:

ARK accepted papers are included in edited books published by Springer (except for 1988 and 1992 editions). These books present the most recent research advances in the theory, design, control and application of robotic systems, which are intended for a variety of purposes such as manipulation, manufacturing, automation, surgery, locomotion and biomechanics. The issues addressed are fundamentally kinematic in nature, including synthesis, calibration, redundancy, force control, dexterity, inverse and forward kinematics, kinematic singularities, as well as over-constrained systems. Methods used include line geometry, quaternion algebra, screw algebra, and linear algebra. These methods are applied to both parallel and serial multi-degree-of-freedom systems. One book usually includes about fifty independently reviewed contributions.
