PhD student during the ceremony for the awarding of the PhD diplomas

The University of Bologna welcomed the incoming PhD students (36th cycle) during the first PhD Welcome Day, held on Friday 4 December 2020, at 2 p.m.

The event has been designed to give to the incoming PhD students a warm welcome into the UniBo community and offer some tips and hints that will hopefully make their academic path at the University of Bologna as smooth as possible.

It is the first opportunity to get acclimated to University by discovering the main administrative services supporting PhD students’ career:

  • Services to support the PhD students' career
  • Mobility abroad and services dedicated to international PhD students
  • Intellectual Property Rights and Competitive Projects
  • Library and Linguistic Services
  • Sustainability and safety

For detailed information, please see the Section “Programme”.

Presentations have been held in Italian with interpreting in English.

Starting from 4.10 p.m., 6 breakout rooms have been available in parallel.

A special breakout room has been dedicated to international PhD students (about visa, residence permit, etc).

During the virtual meeting rooms, participants had the opportunity to receive information concerning the administrative services in place to support their PhD career, while meeting with peers and the teaching staff (PhD programme coordinators, representative of the five main scientific areas).

The event ended with a PhD café session, hosted by the Association of Italian PhD students and former PhD students (ADI), during which PhD students and Post-Docs could exchange views on the challenges a the doctoral path can present in a relaxed and social atmosphere, meet colleagues, extend their network or just have a nice evening with other PhD students.

The meeting has been held remotely on the Platform Microsoft Teams with no request of previous registration.
