Prof. Adam Gazzaley (website) is an American neuroscientist, author, photographer, entrepreneur and inventor. He is the David Dolby Distinguished Professor of Neurology, Physiology, and Psychiatry at University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) and he is founder and executive director of Neuroscape, co-founder and chief science advisor of Akili Interactive Labs and JAZZ Venture Partners. Prof. Gazzaley is the inventor of the first video game approved by the FDA as a medical treatment. He is a board of trustee member, science council member and fellow of the California Academy of Sciences. He has authored over 200 scientific articles.

For millennia, humans have engaged in practices to enrich their lives and promote mental well-being, such as meditation and mindfulness. Despite this rich history and its foundation in the science of neuroplasticity, most people do not think of experiences as medicine, certainly not in the same way that they view pills. Dr. Gazzaley will share his two decades of research into advancing technology-based experiences as medicine for the mind. Notably, he will present his pioneering inventions of closed-loop video games as the first FDA-approved video game treatments. He will then explore the next generation of experiential medicine that integrates advancements in artificial intelligence with sensory immersion, multimodal physiological recordings, non-invasive brain stimulation, and psychedelics to enhance human cognition.
