Mohamed ELKARMOTY
Cairo University
Mohamed Elkarmoty is Associate Professor of the Department of Geological and Mining Engineering and Director of the Rock Engineering Laboratory of the Faculty of Engineering – Cairo University (2018 to present). Since 2018 he has been Deputy Coordinator of the ScanPyramids project. Mohamed received his bachelor's degree in 2009 and his master's degree in 2013 in Mining Engineering from Cairo University. He obtained his doctorate (2014-2018) from the DICAM Department of the University of Bologna. Mohamed has 14 years of experience teaching different geo-engineering and mining engineering modules. His research interests are open-pit quarry design and optimization, rock material characterization, non-destructive testing, scientific methods for cultural heritage, and geothermal energy. Mohamed has published more than 25 articles in international journals and prestigious conferences. He has participated in more than 30 engineering projects for mining, construction and archaeological restoration. He has won several research projects, prizes and recognitions. He was recently awarded the Encouragement Prize in Engineering Sciences by Cairo University (2022) and is awaiting signature as co-owner of the UNESCO-approved project for the creation of a Chair in Science and Technology for Cultural Heritage at Cairo University

Mohamed Sholqamy is a Mining Engineer specializing in the optimization and strategic scheduling of mining operations. Holding both an MSc and a PhD in Mining Engineering, his work focuses on algorithmic development and practical mine planning. He is dedicated to developing advanced scheduling frameworks that maximize resource recovery.
